Drake is coming in hot on the charts.
Releasing back to back singles, Drake is back and ready to take on the charts. He released back to back singles off of his Scary Hours EP. “Diplomatic Immunity” finds itself debuting in the number 7 slot of the Billboard Hot 100 while the other single “God’s Plan” debuts hot at number 1.
The number one spot is no stranger to Drake. He’s been there before with “One Dance” and “Work” and “What’s My Name,” both of which are collaborations with Rihanna. However, this is the first track to debut at number 1 rather than climb the charts to the top spot.
But it’s not just the Billboard Hot 100 that is seeing Drake action. In fact, he broke a major streaming records with “God’s Plan.” According to Billboard, the song destroyed subscription-based streaming services records with a whopping 68 listens in a week which topples Kendrick Lamar’s previous record of 44.4 streams for his single “Humble.” in May of 2017. It also broke Spotify’s single day streaming record.
“God’s Plan” also charts number 1 on the UK Singles Chart which makes it the first song to concurrently debut at number one both on the Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart since DJ Khaled debuted “I’m the One” last year.
While this is enough to appease fans, for now, many are wondering when the next full-length LP will be announced as well as a tour as Drake is one of the top players in the game.
