Canadian electro-funk duo Chromeo have been working hard getting ready for the release of their upcoming fifth studio album Head Over Heels. In order to get the party even more heated up in anticipation for the album drop, they have put out a second single with a little help from The-Dream called “Bedroom Calling”.
“Bedroom Calling” is just the tune to get a shindig up and on its feet. It has an upbeat, bright atmosphere that is absolutely nothing but lighthearted fun from the moment it starts to the moment the last note fades from the speakers.
It takes the best elements of late 70’s funky dance music and combines it with some more modern elements as well. It’s the best of both worlds, and has a groove to it that multiple generations can get down to together despite age differences.
It seems to be in the same key and tempo as many other songs in its genre today and has many other similar attributes as well such as vocal style, chord progression, and instrument arrangement. It definitely has a Bruno Mars kind of vibe to it.
That said, those things do not make it a bad song in and of itself. As mentioned above, it is a fun song that anyone can get up and move to while having the best night of their lives. A good song is a good song regardless of what it does or does not sound like.
Chromeo is currently gearing up to embark on a North American tour in promotion for Head Over Heels. The tour will start in April and span the course of Spring and early Summer.
Tickets can be bought here.
No release date for Head Over Heels has been announced at press time.
