Rodarte’s Fall/Winter 2018 lookbook introduces powerful women

feminists and masterpieces

Rodarte’s latest winter 2018 Portrait Series is both sensational and inspiring, celebrating creative women. Rodarte selected iconic figures to bring the concept behind his collection to real life.

The Paris showroom was decorated in flowers, setting a romantic ambiance. Known best for her portraiture, Autumn de Wilde captured the iconic forces in dreamy gowns that can almost pass for a Baroque portrait. Each were photographed individually, wearing Rodarte’s gowns from the collection. The brand’s founders, Kate and Mulleavy, created this portfolio, featuring the women that inspire them as well.

Wearing pink gowns and red tulle dresses, Rodarte included influential women who are passionate, entitling it “Women Who Inspire Us.” Stars in the campaign include Kirsten Dunst, Tessa Thompson, Grimes, Rowan Blanchard, Chloe x Halle, Miranda July, Kim Gordon and more.

Blanchard, known best for her role in Girl Meets World, styled in a red halter dress was included because of her strong activism in women’s rights. Along with Blanchard, Rodarte chose Reese Witherspoon’s lookalike and daughter, Ava Phillipe, who stunned in a pink gown with red ruffles.

The concept was to bring recognition to female empowerment and was also dedicated to #Timesup, an organization centered around defending women who’ve faced sexual abuse or harassment in the workplace.

“It’s an important time for people to recognize that women are artistic, and that’s what I think these images reflect in all the different personalities,” Kate said.

Rodarte may have needed to construct a timeless series to bring light to one of the world’s most powerful art: women.
