Meek Mill has a part to play this Super Bowl Sunday.
The unofficial anthem for the NFL underdogs, the Philadelphia Eagles, has been Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares.” Thankfully, they’re taking the song with them all the way to the NFL’s biggest spectacle: Super Bowl Sunday.
It was a natural choice as Mill is also a Philadelphia native. He’s also currently serving time for two years due to a parole violation. This was the pick me up that the rapper needed while behind bars. He released a statement saying the choice “really lifted my spirit to hear the team rallying around my songs.” He’ll surely get another lift to find out the team will use ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ on the NFL’s biggest stage on Sunday.”
Rookie defensive end Derek Barnett agrees. “He’s locked up right now, so we have to hold the city down for him.”
The team, which was considered to be the underdog team this season, lost faith towards the tail end of the season when quarterback Carson Wentz tore his ACL. But they pulled it together and ended up beating the Minnesota Vikings to make it to the Super Bowl. Each and every win they used the song to hype them up and then again to celebrate.
Therefore, it was the only choice for the team to storm the field to this Sunday in the home of the Minnesota Vikings, the team they beat to get there. It will be a sweet tribute to their city and a sweeter victory knowing this is the home of the team they beat to get there.
“Dreams and Nightmares” was the title track off of Meek Mill’s 2012 album of the same name.
