Christopher Kane‘s spring/summer 2018 campaign takes us to a world of ironic inspiration with model, Kiki Willems. Kane’s muse behind the campaign was encouraged by the characteristics from an elegant woman with mischievous intentions.
The Dutch model was photographed by Alasdair McLellan, who captured the intense yet collective concept. Kane displayed his admiration for women who portray sophisticated looks. Willems sported a glossy dress with a detailed laced collar, adding contrast to the darkness of her heavy makeup. Kane wanted to interpret the campaign, just as a pristine woman is read.
“Kiki is the model that personified this collection for us and brought it to life in the campaign; elegant yet cheeky, mysterious and mischievous – she really has it all,” said Kane as he described Willem’s role in the campaign.
Featuring a London home owned by the collection’s main inspiration, Cynthia Payne, the campaign was photographed in Streatham. The inspirations varied and were implemented from the housecoats to the household objects. Its environment reflected the collection as the ambiance brought an elegance edge to the photograph. With retro tones and sobriety vibes, Willems shows that a “Christopher Kane” girl can be a refined woman with fringe aesthetics.
After a successful collection last September, the British designer once again proves that a woman content with herself is the definition of elegance.
