First Look: Netflix’s B: The Beginning

What Lies Beyond The Riddle?

B: The Beginning is a bloody enigma.

The grisly new murder mystery anime series coming to Netflix is 12 episodes of suspense.

The streaming service broke down the series in a bio released to Salute.

In a world powered by advanced technology, crime and action unfold in the archipelagic nation of Cremona. Koku, the protagonist. Keith, the legendary investigator of the royal police force RIS. A mysterious criminal organization. A wide variety of characters race through the fortified city as it is beset by the serial killer, Killer B, and a chain of crimes in this suspense drama by director Kazuto Nakazawa and Production I.G.

The trailer starts off with an ominous tone.

In the middle of the night, a woman lies helpless in the forest bound & gagged. The only sounds to keep her company are the rustling birds in the trees and her own whimpers of despair.

An ominous figure stands over her consuming some kind of yellowish liquid.

A hand raises high into the night sky grasping a sharp blade. The holder gleefully laughing as his shadow eclipses the woman’s face. The blade slashes down towards her.

The following morning his calling card is discovered on a tree reading. The crude carving reads “Killer B.” A CSI group pour over numerous case files of the killer’s previous murders. The case attracts the eye of the legendary investigator, Keith Flick.

Flick notices the inconsistent markings of the serial killer’s signature carved next to another crime scene. Flick believes the murders might have a connection to a much larger conspiracy.

The Mysterious Youth, Koku, is introduced next. Walking alone with only his thoughts to comfort him. Determined to find the killer.

The spunky and feisty police investigator, Lily Horshina, believes something very wrong is happening in the city but can’t quite put her finger on it.

As all these opposing theories collide, all those involved realize no answer is easily achieved. Killer B looks to be more than one person. A cult of radical individuals possibly.

B: The Beginning looks like another soon to be classic from Production I.G. The company has been involved in the production of several anime television series, OVA and theatrical films, such as Blood: The Last Vampire, The Ghost In The Shell Series and The End of Evangelion.

B: The Beginning hits the program queue March 2, 2018.
