The Smashing Pumpkins still love their drama.
After nearly two decades, fans are getting the Pumpkins that they know and love, except one.
Recently it has come to light, that much to the delight of countless 90’s teens that the classic line-up of The Smashing Pumpkins is reuniting. Unfortunately however, one key component of that is missing:
The former bassist is being left out of the highly anticipated reunion album and tour much to everyone’s dismay. Wretzky has claimed recently that she was initially she had been offered to join the reunion, but then front man Billy Corgan then revoked it and said “it wasn’t a real offer”.
The band seems to have had enough of all these shenanigans from Wretzky however, because a spokesperson for the Smashing Pumpkins has put out a message from the band, firing back at her claims, saying:
“In reuniting The Smashing Pumpkins, the band’s dedication remains to its fans and its music. To that, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, and William Corgan haven’t played a show with D’arcy Wretzky for over 18 years. But it’s not for a lack of trying. For despite reports, Ms. Wretzky has repeatedly been invited out to play with the group, participate in demo sessions, or at the very least, meet face-to-face, and in each and every instance she always deferred. We wish her all the best, and look forward to reconnecting with you all very soon.”
Currently there is a countdown clock on the Smashing Pumpkins’ official website that is set to expire on the morning of Feb 15. At press time there is no indication of what will be happening when the clock hits 0.
Keep up with music at Salute.
