Kendrick Lamar embraces the pop up shop on European tour

Kendrick embraces new merch potential

Kendrick Lamar isn’t busy enough.

After opening the Grammy awards with a spectacular performance and sweeping up the coveted trophies, planning a North American summer jaunt and curating the Black Panther album and taking it all the way to no. 1 on the charts, it would seem that Kendrick Lamar is too busy to focus on anything else.

However, the constantly working rap sensation has announced a new venture. As he takes the DAMN. tour around Europe, he has announced, much to the excitement of his fans, that he will be doing a series of pop up shops.

The rapper will have eight pop up shop locations along the 14-date leg of his tour starting February 15th in Germany. Each shop will only be one for a day or two before closing down. The Germany shop will be open from 11 am-4 pm local time, but times are subject to change per city.

Billboard notes that while it has yet to be announced what specific type of merch will be available in the pop ups, “fans can likely expect the same DAMN. clothing that was sold on the U.S. tour as well as some ‘exclusive’ presumably location-based items.”

This is not a new concept. Justin Bieber capitalized on the power of the pop up for fans who could not make it into his show, but still wanted to rock the merchandise during his Purpose World Tour. Kanye West embraced the marketing and fashion opportunity during his The Life of Pablo tour. It’s a smart tactic to get an artist’s merchandise to the masses regardless of whether or not they were lucky enough to score a ticket to the show.

Plans for any pop ups on his North American tour have yet to be announced.
