The Italian descent designer Alberta Ferretti took Milan Fashion Week on a whimsical trip with her latest sophisticated, 80s inspired collection.
The designer who is known for her romantic take on fashion is stepping out of her comfort zone by adding an edge to her latest range. The show was filled with socialites that couldn’t wait to see what the designer had come up with this time.
According to WWD, when asked about the range Ferretti said the collection was geared towards a different type of woman, a woman with sophistication and an even bigger personality.
The range consisted of luxurious, commanding pieces with a hint of subdued casualty weaved into them. Featuring sleek, oversized leather bombers perfectly paired with casual T-shirts and gold pleated pants, louche black coats styled with leather pants tucked into slouchy knee-high boots, an array of angora sweaters with shoulder pads that brought the era on full display, and embellished, stonewashed high-waist jeans.
Additionally, the collection had an abundant amount of daywear that stole the show, including separates in jewel tones, and easy to wear fur-lined leather capes.
Evening wear offered a large number of dresses in form-fitting structures designed with strategically placed sheer fabrics and shiny embellishments that brought the 80s glamour.
There was an edge to every pieces that felt different from previous collections. Ferretti displayed her ability to be versatile and create designs that work for every woman not just the feminine beauty, but the edgier maven too.
