Model Kaia Gerber just landed her first Chanel handbag campaign and it’s already considered a classic by most. The 16-year-old model marks the beginning of her journey as one of ‘Chanel’s muses’ and poses with some of the brand’s most popular handbags.
After opening for Chanel’s Spring 2018 runway show, Gerber has received recognition from the brand and is now taking on projects with them. Photographed by creative director Karl Lagerfeld, Gerber’s stunning poses proved her qualification for the powerful fashion house. Filtered in black and white, the images added a sophisticated tone to the brand’s usual classy ambiance. The campaign shoot took place in Coco Chanel’s apartment in Paris, right above the brand’s flagship store, adding significance to model’s experience.
Gerber posed on a suede sofa, sporting cocktail apparel and displaying several handbags. The Gabrielle bag, the Chanel boy bag, and the transparent PVC bags from the spring runway show were featured as the brand’s signature handbags. In a silk ruffled dress, Gerber’s elegance and fierceness combined determined the tone of the advertisement. Along with the filters, the old-fashioned themed images brought aesthetics of the fashion house’s elegant nature one often sees on the runway.
This isn’t the only project Gerber has up her sleeve with Chanel. Earlier this year, Gerber and Lagerfeld announced a capsule collection inspired by the model’s West Coast style. The model has exceeded accomplishments at a much younger age than when her mother, Cindy Crawford, began her career. The model prodigy’s drive proves she has inherited more than just good genes from Crawford.
