Twenty-One Pilots achieve industry milestone

It’s been nearly four years since Twenty-One Pilots released their last album Blurryfacebut its reggae-charged legacy still holds a high relevant stance. Now, the warrior duo, which consists of Ohio-based musicians Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, has made history as the very first band to have every song on an album certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

The announcement was made earlier via Twitter, where they congratulated the boys for the sustained popularity of their record, an undoubtedly impressive milestone in their fairly young careers.

Since its release in 2015, the album received critical acclaim. The promotional single, “Stressed Out,” went on to become the duo’s highest selling track, ranking No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and eventually becoming No.1 on Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart. The chart-topping single also earned a well-deserved spot on both the Alternative Songs and Hot Rock Songs roster, surpassing one billion views on YouTube at the time.

According to the RIAA, the album Blurryface is itself, triple-Platinum certified and is “the top RIAA certified alternative album released in the last three years.” The album is comprised of 14 songs, each of which have respectively earned their place in the RIAA Gold and Platinum certification program.

No other artist in the music industry has ever accomplished this throughout the organization’s more than 65-year existence, making Twenty-One Pilots the only artists to have ever had every song on a record certified Gold or Platinum status.

“From the first track to the 14th, each and every song from ‘Blurryface’ has resonated with fans,” said Cary Sherman, Chairman and CEO of the RIAA. “In a time when fans enjoy instant access to millions of different tracks, this is a testament to the appeal of both the album and each of its individual songs. Congratulations to Tyler, Josh, and Fueled by Ramen.”

Twenty-One Pilots will definitely continue to benefit from digital streaming services, as millions continue to press play, earning themselves a reputation that is desired by many in the industry. Though they have stopped touring for the moment, 2018 is looking bright for the boys so anything at this point is possible.
