Here is the synopsis for Youtube Red‘s Cobra Kai.
Karate Kid’s Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso aren’t the same people they were in high school— but their rivalry hasn’t changed one bit. The Karate Kid saga continues.
The trailer begins with the familiar All Valley Karate Championship Bracket with a set of Trophies taking center stage. Johnny Lawrence, now a Sensei, is heard in a voice-over leading a new class of Cobra Kai students. Framed old newspaper clippings of a young Daniel LaRusso come into frame detailing LaRusso’s and his Sensei, Mr. Miyagi, victory. In another voice-over, an older Daniel is heard telling Johnny he doesn’t know why he would ever bring back Cobra Kai. Johnny and Daniel are then heard explaining their creeds. Johnny explaining no mercy is to be expected. Mercy is for the weak. While Daniel explains; you can know the moves, but none of that matters if you don’t have balance. The trailer comes to an end with Daniel and Johnny facing off in the middle of the Cobra Kai dojo.
It’s hard to imagine this rivalry began thirty years ago. YouTube has given the production a series order to consist of ten half-hour episodes for the first season. Hurwitz and Schlossberg will direct multiple episodes of the first season. The trio will be joined as executive producers by James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett of Overbrook Entertainment in association with Sony Pictures Television.
Cobra Kai is expected to hit the program queue sometime in 2018.
