Run The Jewels “Supercut” Lorde on new remix

Supercut of us

Run the Jewels know how to kill a remix.

Run The Jewels is about to hit the road across North America with Lorde, but they simply can’t get enough of her. The duo has now remixed the singer’s “Supercut” off of her latest album Melodrama.

The track keeps the original first verse and chorus while adding in new verses from both Killer Mike and EI-P before ending with a Lorde verse and chorus.

You keep tryna play us, and you gon’ be famous
And just like the top on my 7-5 drop
I’m just hittin’ a button and you gon’ be brainless
And that’s from the back of a ‘lac where I’m smokin’ the sack
Wit’ my girl, watchin’ seasons of Shameless

The original version of the song is a nice pop song over an upbeat, 80s-reminiscent synth beat. It’s a song that’s become the norm for the genre and is an audience friendly track. However, the remix takes the beat and flips it on its head. Run the Jewels takes it darker and makes it meatier. It’s more industrial. It’s less arena, more club ready.

Pitchfork reports Lorde saying of the remix:

I love it. So much. My little nerd heart is full.
