Gucci never shies away from social commentary or getting involved in politics. Today, Gucci is celebrating March 8, International Women’s Day, by unveiling their latest Chime for Change worldwide campaign.
Chime for Change is a global initiative, funded by Gucci and founded in 2013, which aims to “unite and strengthen the voices speaking out for girls and women around the world, with a focus on using innovative approaches to raise funds and awareness for Education, Health and Justice projects.”
Gucci and Chime for Change collaborated with artist and poet Cleo Wade to design a series of artworks featuring empowering, uplifting messages meant to embrace and celebrate women. One message reads,
“We do not change the world when we whisper we change it when we roar.”
“Women of the world: we see you we hear you we are you.”
Gucci and Chime for Change are spreading the series of artworks by sharing the images across all social media platforms in hopes that women will feel inspired and continue to pass along the messages.
Several international corporations such as The New York Times, the Financial Times, La Repubblica and Il Corriere della Sera are sharing the artwork as advertising campaigns as well. Lastly, the phrases will be showcased on billboards in two major cities: New York City’s Times Square and Los Angeles.
