Arctic Monkeys set out for U.S. Invasion

“Don’t call it a comeback”

British indie-rock group Arctic Monkeys are gearing up to make 2018 a monumental year, having already announced plans to release a new album sometime this year as well as a string of European tour dates. Now, the Sheffield natives have announced plans to tour the U.S. this summer as well.

The band—which consists of frontman Alex Turner, drummer Matt Helders, guitarist Jamie Cook, and bassist Andy Nicholson, who was later replaced by Nick O’Malley—is regarded as one of the first bands to really gain public attention via the internet.

After signing to Domino Records in 2005, the Arctic Monkeys were bound for rock stardom following the band’s debut single, “I Bet that you Look Good on the Dance Floor” which went on to chart at No. 1 in the UK.

Including their 2006 debut, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, they have released five full-length albums,  Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007), Humbug (2009), Suck It and See (2011), and AM (2013). Fans have eagerly been waiting to hear from the foursome since they went on hiatus, following their 2014 performance at the Reading festival. Now, with new music on the way, fans are certainly going to be excited to see what the band has cooked up for their first international tour in more than three years.

According to a recent post on the band’s official Instagram account, they will be stopping in Los Angeles on May 5th, prior to their European tour, before returning to perform three more shows in Raleigh, Nashville, and Atlanta from June 16th – June 19th.
