The countdown has begun and Jack White has premiered another new single to build the anticipation
Jack White and his legions of fans are counting down the single digit number of days until his third studio solo album Boarding House Reach goes out for sale to the public this Friday.
Over the past couple of months White has been releasing single after single after single from the album to get people hyped and thrilled. Now, White has released a fifth single in the short space of time titled “Ice Station Zebra”, putting nearly half of the 12 track album out before it has even come out.
“Ice Station Zebra” is as odd of a track as its title would suggest. It blends so many different genres that it is difficult to figure out what to make of it other than just calling it Jack White.
This tune shows White exploring more hip-hop style compositions that he started looking into in his 2014 release Lazaretto.
White in his own peculiar, yet hypnotic way raps most of the song, but with many different fuzzy layers of vocal tracks. There are still moments of melodic singing, however. Aside from the hip-hop though, “Ice Station Zebra” also features hints of jazz, blues, rock, funk, and more.
It really is a melting pot of the most unusual sort, but then again nothing less could be expected from the musical Willy Wonka that is Jack White.
Jack White is about to embark on a rather extensive tour starting April 19 in Detroit, MI and going all the way until August 23 in Las Vegas, NV. Many shows are sold out, but remaining tickets and dates can be found and purchased here.
Boarding House Reach can be pre-ordered here.
Keep up with music at Salute.
