Fashion and beauty influencer Marianna Hewitt has recently revealed the first product in her new skincare line Summer Fridays. Together with Co-Founder Lauren Gores, they created a Jet Lag Mask for times when our skin needs some extra T.L.C.
Both women pulled inspiration from their daily lives to design the mask. Hewitt is always on the go, living a bi-coastal life which requires her to travel from California to New York at least once a month. She knows firsthand the effects traveling has on skin and the necessity of a product that can plump up fine lines and get rid of tired eyes.
Gores’ jet lag story doesn’t involve traveling at all. Instead, Gores juggles being a mother to her adorable son with blogging and the launch of Summer Fridays. The working mom needed a product to rejuvenate and brighten her skin.
The influencers’ decision to release just one product initially was a simple one. Hewitt told WWD,
“We wanted to focus on one product that was amazing. You can try this one thing — and we feel so confident to launch just one product — that we know people will love it and be a fan and that when the next one comes out they’ll be able to concentrate on the new one.”
Their plan seems to be working. The Jet Lag Mask has gone viral on social media and has been featured in countless publications such as WWD, Vogue, and Refinery 29. The mask has also sold out several times on Sephora’s site as well as on Summer Fridays.
Now let’s get down to the important part. Does it actually work?
I purchased Summer Fridays’ Jet Lag Mask from Sephora last weekend for $48. It comes in a minimalist white rectangular box with periwinkle blue writing. The mask is inside of a large periwinkle blue tube. Simple, clean, aesthetically pleasing, and highly Instagrammable.
The mask can be used in three different ways. You can apply it for ten minutes as a pick me up and then wipe it off with a tissue. The mask does not have to be rinsed off with water, giving masking in bed while watching Netflix a whole new convenience. The white mask also becomes transparent when you apply it to your skin, allowing you to mask in secret when in public.
The second way is to apply the mask and head to bed, letting it absorb into your skin overnight. Lastly, and possibly my favorite way, is to use the mask as a primer. Massage a little into your skin before applying foundation. It creates a smooth, glowing base for your makeup and gives your skin a healthy dose of radiance.
After using the mask overnight, I immediately noticed a difference in the appearance of fine lines. The fine lines around my eyes were suddenly diminishing and my skin looked more supple and hydrated than ever. The Jet Lag Mask is also completely safe to use on your eyes so you don’t have to worry about any allergic reactions.
It is no surprise that two powerful influencers were able to create such an amazing product. After all, few know the ins and outs of what drives consumers to buy a product better than they do. The Jet Lag Mask is sure to become my new airplane essential and skincare lifesaver.
Summer Fridays’ mask is currently sold out on Sephora, but you can purchase it directly from Summer Fridays website.
