Normai Kordei first to announce solo album post Fifth Harmony hiatus

Fifth to first harmony

Normani Kordei is ready to be first.

Just two weeks ago, we here at Salute reported that pop girl group Fifth Harmony would be going on an indefinite hiatus. Now, member Normani Kordei has announced her first solo endeavor post announcement.

The singer, who most recently collaborated with Khalid on “Love Lies” from the Love, Simon soundtrack, told Beats 1 that she is currently busy in the studio putting in work on her debut album. And it’s full of collaborations!

Popcrush.com reports that she told the radio show,

“I’m working on my first full-length album. I’m the beginning stages, still. I’ve gotten the chance to work with The Stereotypes, I’m going to be in with the Monsters and the Strangerz, Sarah Aarons, Sailor Heart, Victoria Monét, Ester Dean… I’m getting in with her very soon, too, so I’m excited.”

If the album is anything like “Love Lies,” the singer didn’t let on. But while the sound and direction of her album remains a mystery, she did dive deeper into how personal the album will be.

“Honestly, I feel like I’ve experienced a lot in the last six years, so I feel like just getting all of that out. Whatever comes to mind, whatever I’m going through at the moment, I just want this to be an album that completely represents who Normani is, and for some people, it may be the first time.”

Normani also goes on to explain that since she’s been part of a group for the last six years, it’s been easy to have the girls to fall back on when something is put out. Now, however, when working on her solo endeavors, she’s slightly nervous knowing that all eyes are on her and it’s only her that people will be focusing on.

Normani’s solo album is currently in the early stages and no time frame for release has been given. Stay tuned to Salute for more updates.
