WATCH: Zayn Malik finally reveals new track “Let Me”

This life of sin

Zayn Malik is back with some smooth R&B.

After releasing his debut album as a solo artist, Mind of Mine, in 2016, Zayn Malik fans have been waiting with bated breath for the follow up. Fans need wait no longer.

Earlier today, the former One Direction member released his latest song and accompanying video for “Let Me.”

After teasing the video earlier this week, the singer released the full version. From the teaser, it was hard to tell what sort of track it was going to be.

What Malik gave us was a smooth R&B track about how invested he is in a woman and how he’s willing to take care of her for the rest of their lives.

Baby, let me be your man

So I can love you

And if you let me be your man

Then I’ll take care of you, you

For the rest of my life, for the rest of yours

For the rest of my life, for the rest of yours

For the rest of ours

The video is visually stunning in its Bond-esque imagery and cinematic scope. It tells the story of Malik being involved in organized crime and falling for someone he never anticipated.

Towards the end of the video, Zayn is involved in a bar brawl that ends in the kingpin holding his girl at gunpoint. The two get out of it after the girl pulls some serious moves and they speed off into the sunset.

It’s a track that’s reminiscent of earlier Usher and Justin Timberlake. But that’s not the only page he tore out of Timberlake’s book.

Fresh off of his breakup with model Gigi Hadid, Elle points out that Malik’s love interest in the video looks strangely similar to his ex-girlfriend.

Of course, Timberlake did this for “Cry Me a River,” his first video post breakup with Britney Spears.

Despite the rumors of his relationship negatively playing a hand in his new album, it would seem that “Let Me” is a good indication of Malik’s breakup with Hadid not affecting the music itself. This is a love song in the simplest sense.

Keep up with music at Salute.
