Rae Sremmurd teams up with Travis Scott for new track “Close”

Too close

Rae Sremmurd wants to get “Close.”

Earlier this year, rap duo Rae Sremmurd announced that Sremm Life 3, a triple disc masterpiece, would finally be available to fans in 2018.  Despite not releasing a concrete release date, Rae Sremmurd are keeping their fans appeased by dropping their latest track.

Travis Scott joins the duo on the new track “Close.” It’s the latest track to come from the triple disc and joins previous releases “Powerglide” and “Guatemala.”

The beat, as XXL Mag describes it, is “grim” but has the signature Rae Sremmurd sound. The song calls into question those around them and if their negative energy is worth being around. Travis Scott starts off the track.

Gang can’t be tamed, yeah, ice in our veins, yeah
Somethin’ feels strange, this cup is dangerous
Somethin’ ain’t right, dawg, we in too easy
Been here all night, dawg, really, I’m tweakin’, yeah

Then Swae Lee comes in and delivers his melodic Auto-Tune vocals about negativity around him.

Lowrider, my avenue
But that truck’s not up my avenue
You cried and said, “Look what you made me do”
It’s not my fault that I don’t wanna end up screwed

While Travis Scott and Swae Lee deliver crooning vocals, Slim Jxmmi comes in towards the end and delivers spitfire rap that shakes up the track before Swae Lee comes back and delivers the chorus to close out the track.

N—-s smile in your face and they’re not your homie
Makin’ me claustrophobic
Bust down the AP and wet the Rollie
Stop callin’ me “brother,” you barely know me
Don’t tell me you love me, you gotta show me

With this being yet another single off of their upcoming triple-disc, restless fans wondered if they would ever get it. Swae Lee then tweeted out:

Keep up with music at Salute.
