Column: The best moisturizers for any skin type

Inside Caroline’s Closet

Inside Caroline’s Closet is Salute Magazine’s weekly column written by Fashion Editor and Blogger Caroline Noce. Inside Caroline’s Closet will provide weekly tips and trend alerts within the world of fashion and beauty, aiming to inspire women to look and feel their best.

As a self-proclaimed beauty junky I have tested countless moisturizers to find the ones my skin loves the most. Not all moisturizers are created equal or should be used in the same way. Some are better applied first thing in the morning opposed to before bed. Others work well for very dry, dehydrated skin but are too strong for someone who needs just a little bump of hydration.

Here is the 4-1-1 on my favorite moisturizers:

Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Water Gel with Hyaluronic Acid

Hydro Boost is ideal to use first thing in the morning before applying makeup. It plumps up your skin and gives it a beautiful, natural glow. It also serves as a great base under makeup, enabling your foundation to go on smoothly and seamlessly. Hydro Boost has the consistency of a cooling gel which makes it so refreshing in the morning and brings your skin back to life.

Murad’s Skin Perfecting Lotion

After receiving it in my spring Fab Fit Fun box, Murad’s Skin Perfecting Lotion has quickly become my new favorite moisturizer. It’s oil-free and safe for acne prone skin so say goodbye to waking up with oily skin and breaking out from using a new product. It’s lightweight, hydrating, and smells like a delicious citrus blend. It’s perfect for skin that isn’t overly dry, but needs a pick me up and some extra moisture and glow.

First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration

When my skin is suffering from winter’s harsh weather, this is my go-to. It’s very thick so I only use it at night because it doesn’t lay the best under makeup. It’s not necessary for normal skin but if you’re dealing with flaking, dry patches, itchiness, or peeling FAB’s Intense Hydration moisturizer is your new best friend. In just a few days, my dry patches were gone and I would not have survived the winter without it.

Rodan + Fields SOOTHE Sensitive Skin Treatment

If you have sensitive skin or deal with conditions like eczema or rosacea, this is a great option for you. When my skin is acting extra sensitive, I tone down my skincare regimen and use the Rodan + Fields Sensitive Skin Treatment as a moisturizer. It feels like silk when you rub it into your skin, and leaves you with a radiant shine. It’s very gentle so it won’t cause inflammation.
