Here is the synopsis of Netflix’s ANON:
Sal Frieland is a detective in a world with no privacy or anonymity; where everyone’s lives are transparent, traceable, and recorded by the authorities; where crime almost ceases to exist. But in trying to solve a series of murders, Frieland stumbles on a young woman known only as the Girl. She has no identity, no history and is invisible to the cops. Sal realizes this may not be the end of crime, but the beginning.
The trailer begins with officer Sal Frieland (Owen) recounting the previous night’s events. He’s chasing a perpetrator through a subway. What he sees, his surroundings, morph and change into something he doesn’t remember. An optical illusion that not only hinders him but is also cleared from his record.
Sal sees a train that isn’t there with passengers also not there. This illusion almost causes his own fatality as a train whooshes by. In a futuristic world where officers can record their surroundings privacy is lost. However, someone is now able to hack into the system and change what they see.
To find the hacker, Sal enlists the aid of one. She has no digital signature or footprint. She makes a living covering up secrets. She can erase anyone or anything. The hacker (Seyfried) confides in Sal that she is being framed. Meanwhile, Sal’s higher-ups suggest she is lying. The hacker is known only as THE GIRL; she must be found before Sal becomes the next victim.
Sal must decide not only who to trust but also what is real.
