Trekking back to the United States after a five-year wait…
Dublin based shoe-gazing outfit My Bloody Valentine have recently broke the news that they will be making a grand comeback to the U.S. after holding off since their last live show which took place in 2013 after the release of their most recent album m b v.
The tour which consists of a short seven-date run will first make an appearance at Robert Smith’s Meltdown in London on June 23, before voyaging into the states making stops in Los Angeles in time for FYF Festival, then heading to Denmark’s Roskilde Festival and Japan’s Sonicmania, and coming to an end in early August.
In support of their January release of their “all analog versions,” deluxe vinyl bundle of MBV’s first two album’s Isn’t Anything (1988) and Loveless (1991). The tour will most likely surround fan favored tracks picked straight off of both records.
Coupled with the tour, front-man Kevin Shields have teased the drop of what he refers to as a “sprawling EP,” in order to build-up momentum towards a possible full-length new album stating:
“I’m gonna do a couple of them before I do an album,” he explains.
Shield’s also goes on to explain in a press statement that he needed an escape to “get away from my ‘every 20 years and make an album and then tour and disappear for five years’,” which became his familiar routine that helped him cope with expanding his creative focal point towards a new album in the works.
At press time it is unknown when Shield’s first EP is to drop.
With the exception of New York, tickets will go on sale on MBV’s official website this Friday, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
