Karl Lagerfeld partner’s up with ModelCo on makeup collection

The legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld has teamed up with Australian makeup brand ModelCo to create a 50-piece limited edition makeup collection.

Lagerfeld’s chief executive officer, Pier Paolo Righi shared with WWD why the icon designer decided to work with the beauty brand:

“A creative and innovative company, with a team that thinks out of the box. They are very connected with a Millennial audience and deeply grounded in fashion. At the same time, ModelCo resonated with the iconic, playful DNA at the heart of Karl Lagerfeld. This helped to bring this project to life, creatively, in the product palette we developed together. We felt that these attributes made them a perfect match with what we stand for and who we want to connect with.”

He also said:

“This collaboration presents a new, very relevant way to connect with our audience, for whom we are much more than a fashion brand — we are a fashionable companion in their daily lives. Looking beautiful when going out is, of course, important to our consumers, and we are very happy that we can help them [do] so and can do it with a smile.”

The theme of the collection is said to be fitting for all skin types and will fall under the range of “illuminated beauty.” The 50-piece line will feature innovative packaging and/or formula including a long-lasting liquid liner, volumizing mascara, a fiber brow gel and crayon duo, numerous makeup brushes, and powder highlighters.

Additionally, the assortment will include eight shades of matte lipsticks, eight shiny lip glosses, four special effects top coats, a day to night eyeshadow palette called the Choupette Collectible Eyeshadow Palette Day to Night, and a miniature lip kit that was created with Lagerfeld’s signature pink hues and detailing.

The line is said to be a collectible range as there will be a limited quantity produced. The limited items will be sold in Karl Lagerfeld stores, via and ModelCo official selling networks. In addition, the line will be exclusive to Nordstrom.

The collab is due to launch worldwide on May 14th, but to celebrate the launch of the anticipated range Lagerfeld and ModelCo will host a “guerilla-style” event that will take place in Paris on May 15th.

The fashion mastermind Karl Lagerfeld has yet again created a classic, aesthetically pleasing piece of art, but this time it was created in the form of makeup. The collection is sure to be a hit among fashion and beauty lovers alike.
