Juelz Santana is facing not one but two federal firearms charges…
Harlem-bred rapper LaRon Louis James or more commonly known by his stage name Juelz Santana was officially charged with a two-count indictment on Wednesday (May 2), after authorities caught him trying to board a plane at Newark Liberty International Airport with a loaded .38 caliber handgun and Oxycodone pills hidden in his carry-on luggage in early March.
Trying to flee the scene after getting busted, Santana reportedly left behind two bags. However, filled with immense guilt, the rapper surfaced back to police after being on the run for three days and was arrested.
There, he was faced with a series of legal repercussions up until recently.
Fortunately, his mother was able to bail him out April 6, after she acquired a $500,000 bond by putting her Englewood, N.J. home up for sale, On behalf of his freedom Santana has to wear an ankle brace at all times.
Originally, the 36-year-old rapper faced both state and federal charges, but the state charges were dropped by the orders of the Essex County prosecutors who said they would postpone with federal authorities.
According to the Associated Press, federal prosecutors charged Santana with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a firearm on the aircraft, it’s noted that he could face up to 20 years in prison for his actions.
Santana is currently scheduled to be arraigned upon U.S. District Judge Stanley R. Chesler on May 10.
