Alice in Chains drop new single and music video “The One You Know,” for the first time in five years…
The kings of doom and gloom Alice in Chains have done it again, but would that really be surprising? The band after all managed to take the world by storm for over three decades and still remain true to their signature sound.
This year, they aren’t holding back, just a few days after hitting the road for the first leg of their North American tour, the boy’s unleashed new song “The One You Know” from their as-of-yet-untitled LP, expected to drop this summer (as a follow-up to their 2013’s critically acclaimed album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here).
Accompanying the track comes a new music video which features visuals of a microbiology-motif as the band mate’s rock out hard amidst a blood-red ambiance with cuts showing tiny critters scurrying about as the alt-metal warrior’s deliver a bad-ass monstrosity with larger than life vocals detonating ear drums in all directions.
Earlier this month, Guitarist and co-vocalist Jerry Cantrell dished out some details surrounding the latest record with Guitar World describing it as some sort of ‘alienated territory’ stating:
“It’s a record we haven’t done yet, I can tell you that. But it’s also a record that has all the elements of anything you would expect from us. It’s got our fingerprint.
And we’re really proud of the material that we wrote and the performances we captured. There’s some really heavy shit, some really ugly stuff, some real beautiful stuff, some weirdo trippy shit… its good!”
Not only does “The One You Know,” secure that this album will be a promising one, but their intensifying guitar riffs, heavy-heart-pounding sound, and nostalgic style further proves that even 20 years later, they still got it.
The unnamed album which was mixed by Nick Raskulinecz (Deftones, Mastodon) and Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age) still has no set release date as of press time.
