On May 19th, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will say “I do” at England’s St. Georges Chapel. While the world is anticipating each detail of the royal wedding, there’s one detail that matters more than most: Markle’s gown.
Markle’s wedding dress designer has not officially been released but Alexander McQueen and Ralph & Russo are both strong predictions. Kate Middleton wore a custom Alexander McQueen lace and embroidered gown to her 2011 nuptials. So, Markle could choose to follow in her sister-in-law’s footsteps, opting for an Alexander McQueen creation.
Ralph & Russo is a safe bet because Markle has worn pieces from the designer before. Many predict that the bride-to-be will go against the royal family’s conventional bridal style, opting for something a little more shocking and unique. Ralph & Russo’s gowns often incorporate heavy embroidery and crystal embellishments, so Markle’s wedding day look could be far from simple or demure.
Many suspect Markle will pay tribute to Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, by emulating the Princess of Wales’ David and Elizabeth Emanual gown. Markle could honor her look by incorporating a full ball gown skirt or a removable skirt for a modern twist.
While Kate went for a stunning yet classic look with full lace and not a stitch of beading, the public is expecting something a little different from the American bride. Despite which designer or custom gown Markle walks down the aisle in, two things are certain. The whole world will be watching and she will look nothing short of gorgeous.
