The Robinson’s will continue their journey.

More danger is coming for Will Robinson and Co. Netflix Renews Lost In Space.

Netflix’s ambitious remake of the 1960’s science-fiction classic, Lost In Space, has been renewed. The series has been greenlit for a second season after a strong launch. Coupled with critical and fan praise, Lost In Space arrived on Netflix with the third best premiere-day viewership. It trailed only behind Season 2 of Stranger Things and the Will Smith movie Bright.

The show follows the intergalactic adventures of a family of pioneering space colonists whose ship is thrown off-course. It is written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless and consists of ten episodes produced by Legendary Television, Synthesis Entertainment, Clickety-Clack Productions, and Applebox Entertainment, with Zack Estrin serving as showrunner.

The series stars Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Maxwell Jenkins, Mina Sundwall, Taylor Russell, Ignacio Serricchio and Parker Posey. Posey plays the gender bend 2018 interpretation of the mischevious Dr. Smith.

2018’s reimaging of Lost In Space sets the series in the not too distant future. 30 years in the future, colonization in space has become a reality. The Robinsons find themselves abruptly torn off course they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment. Along the way, the family befriends a cybernetic alien creature who may or may not be a threat.

The Netflix series is highlighted by superb special effects, but at its core is the family dynamic. The Robinson family’s backstories are fleshed out through flashbacks, much like another fan favorite “lost” television series.

Lost In Space initially launched into space in 1965 on the small screen. Later it was made into a big screen feature film in 1998 starring Friends’ Matt LeBlanc. Now the series returns to the small screen and has found a new generation of fans via Netflix.
