Ariana Grande has teamed up once again with Nicki Minaj.
Festival and radio show season is in full swing and Ariana Grande has already hit the circuit. She first performed a surprise two song mini set during Kygo’s slot at the second weekend of Coachella and now she’s hit the WangoTango stage to debut a portion of her second single from Sweetener “The Light is Coming.”
While the track doesn’t fully drop until June 20th, Grande gave fans at WangoTango an extended preview of what’s to come.

In the clip, she asks the crowd if it’s okay if she gave them a little sneak peek of the new collaboration. After the room quieted down from the roar of screams, Grande and three of her backup dancers strutted across the stage as the Nicki Minaj opening filled the speakers.
Grande is seen rapping along before Minaj throws it to her and she jumps in.
The track, according to Pop Crush, was produced by mega hyphenate Pharrell Williams. It’s a shift from the standard Ariana Grande songs that fans are used to.
The beat is much different than her previous work and feels more in line with the new direction that the “Dangerous Woman” is heading in.
With a track like, “The Light is Coming,” it’s clear that Ariana Grande is looking to evolve and experiment with her work.
The lyrics seem to reflect a quarrel between lovers.
Give you a box of chances
Every time you blow it all
‘Cause if it was shade, he would just throw it all
It’s like you’re trying not to blow it all
Blow it all
As this was written prior to her breakup, fans can only assume that this is not a direct hit at ex-boyfriend Mac Miller.
“The Light is Coming” will be released June 20th, a day that will also serve as the presale date of her new album Sweetener.
Keep up with music at Salute.
