Goo Goo Dolls Return With New EP

Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated rock band, The Goo-Goo Dolls, are back with a brand new five-song EP, available now from Warner Bros. Records.

You Should Be Happy was recorded at EastWest Studios in L.A. and produced by Drew Pearson (OneRepublic, Katy Perry) who previously collaborated with the band on their 2016 studio album, Boxes.

Unlike the band’s ’90s rock classics, such as their critically acclaimed album, Dizzy Up The Girl, the latest release from the Buffalo natives is much more influenced by the sound of more contemporary American rock musicians, such as New Jersey singer-songwriter, Bruce Springsteen.

To announce the release of their latest EP, The Goo Goo Dolls released a lyrical music video for the first single, “Use Me,” on May 11.

“Use Me” was written by Goo Goo Dolls frontman John Rezeznick and producer Drew Pearson, and is deeply rooted in more traditional Americana music. The new album also features the title track “Tattered Edge/You Should Be Happy,” an anthemic hard rock song reminiscent of fellow ’90s rock musicians, The Foo Fighters, and “Walk Away,” which takes a more modern twist on the sound of traditional folk music, which might surprise some listeners for its similarities to Avicii‘s “Wake Me Up.”

The Goo Goo Dolls have also announced that they will be hitting the road this summer on their Long Way Home Tour, with special guest Phillip Phillps. The tour will kick off on July 14, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain, Calif., and will run through mid-September, culminating with a performance at the Greek Theatre in L.A. on Sept. 13.
