Mac Duggal NYFW Creates Prom Royalty

Mac Duggal Unveils Stunning Gowns for NYFW

The Mac Duggal NYFW Show took place on Saturday September 9th at the Angel Oresanz Center, which is a Gothic revival synagogue. The exquisite space was the perfect venue for Mac Duggal’s latest collection of couture prom and pageant dresses and gowns. While main seating was around the runway, additional viewing options were provided by a balcony up above complete with an open bar.  img_5703

Mac Duggal’s models were ready for prom excellence as they came down the runway in gowns one more beautiful than the next. The designer created a wide variety of looks, so that there would be something for every girl. Some gowns were flirty and feminine with light blue tulle and beaded bodices, while others were more dramatic and elegant with black velvet and long trains. I also took note of the range of models that were used in the show, including plus size models in the lineup made Mac Duggal’s collection even more relatable and celebrates every woman, many of which have beautiful curves.

Although gowns are Mac Duggal’s specialty, that did not stop the designer from getting creative. This ensemble was a cross between a gown and a jumpsuit. The sweetheart neck bodice was embroidered with intricate beading, while the legs were sheer and tapered at the ankles. A long train was bustled at the waist, creating the illusion of being a gown from the back, but bringing you in for a complete surprise once you see the front. This is the perfect look for a girl who likes to stand out and do things a bit differently.

Blush looks good on mostly anyone, but blush on a redhead is amazing. This blush gown was equal parts sexy and sweet. The gown had a low neckline and mermaid fit. Delicate swirls of fabric covered the bottom skirt as well as the cape that draped from the model’s shoulders. I instantly fell in love with this look.

I found Mac Duggal’s collection to be brilliant and unique. When I look back to the Mac Duggal gown I wore to my own high school prom years ago, I know full well the ability the designer has to make girls feel beautiful and unstoppable when wearing his creations.
