The Punisher will take a trip to the past for his early days of gun wielding and will be revealed inside Punisher: The Platoon. Marvel Comics will deliver a series focused on Frank Castle as he re-lives his days in the Vietnam War.
Garth Ennis and Goran Parlov are the two creators behind the upcoming comic book to release October 2017. Garth is famous for his many works as a comic writer including Preacher, Judge Dredd, Hellblazer and Punisher. Garth delivers superb storytelling in the make of gritty and violent worlds. Goran Parlov is a talented comic book artist who brings simple artwork with bold lines and shading. Goran is known for working on multiple comic book titles including Marvel Universe vs. The Punisher, A + X and Barracuda.
These two creators, having worked together before, will bring a new take on a very tragic, driven hero. The story takes place during the ’60s in a war-hardened Vietnam — a lush place full of jungle, traps and about hundred other things that can kill you in an instant.
Garth told Marvel he intends to recapture the essence of the time period by involving famous locations.
“The story is set during the Tet offensive of 1968, with Frank’s first battlefield command — an understrength platoon of US Marines-involved in the defense of Khe Sanh, the famous Marine base which was subjected to quite an arduous siege by the North Vietnamese Army.”
Garth continues to tell Marvel about what to expect for our hero as he trudges through the battlefield.
“Once Second-Lieutenant Castle begins to reveal himself as a first class problem-solver, certain figures within the military establishment will start keeping an eye on him, only too keen to exploit his particular skill set.”
Be sure to collect this memoir of Frank Castle’s most defining moments in Punisher: The Platoon. The long-kept history of one man’s greatest battle begins this October.
