Balmain‘s Spring/Summer 2018 collection shown at the Palais Garnier displayed the depth of the brilliance that is the mind of Olivier Rousteing.
Paris fashion week is littered with amazing shows that you don’t want to miss. This season, Oliver Rousteing’s collection for Balmain was a real testament to his artisanship as a designer.
The collection which was largely monochrome consisted of a myriad of textures, weaving, and embellishments. Pant-suits and dresses made of tweed embellished with Swarovski crystals, sequin, and mesh, adorned the models as they glided down the runway.
Although many of the garments were insanely intricate, there was no absence of movement within them. Gorgeous ruffles and fringe laced many of the pieces giving them a life of their own. Some of our favorite garments (pictured below) are the epitome of what modern day luxury represents.
Beautiful all on their own, some of the garments truly aren’t done justice unless seen in motion. The team at Balmain knew this and posted videos from the runway on their Instagram page.
As brilliant and intricate many of the pieces were, leave it to Rousteing to still be his playful self and add daring more casual pieces to the mix such as see-through trench coats and skirts, casual t-shirts with patent leather ruffled skirts, and tweed co-ordinates embellished with crystals.
