Fruit & Flowers
Hailing from Brooklyn, NY, Fruit & Flowers is an art punk band with an amazing sound and an aesthetic to die for.
Their high-energy jams are way too good to pass up. Heart-pounding rhythms, captivating vocals, and an underlying sense of intensity are all cornerstones of their sound that makes them so much fun.
Not only that, but they’ve also been dubbed one of “NYC’s hardest working bands” by Oh My Rockness, which isn’t a title that should be taken lightly.
They can usually be found tearing it up at venues across New York and New Jersey. Word to the wise: if you have the chance to see them live, do it. You won’t regret it.
R&B singer Jon Vinyl certainly has a way with sound. Skillfully crafting songs that work their way into listeners’ souls, it’s plain to see that this man puts all of himself into his art.
Vinyl’s new single, “Life” is a testament to that fact. His smooth vocals are absolutely wrought with emotion from start to finish. Combine this with the slow, mellow instrumentals and melancholy vibe, and you’ve got yourself one heart wrenching track.
The song itself depicts struggles of an up-and-coming artist as they strive towards their dreams, much like Vinyl himself. The lyrics are introspective and full of truth. There’s hope, but also an acknowledgment of the exhaustion that comes with the work. It’s bittersweet, and that makes “Life” all the more addictive.
A mysterious new up-and comer known simply as Golda is taking the music scene by storm. Golda is one. Golda is many. Golda is pervertedly extrovert yet inexplicably shy.
The project tells the story of a woman who finds herself enraptured with city nightlife, losing herself in the “dark, sweaty, drug-infested R&B music that reflects her inner self.”
Golda’s debut single “NsFw,” sets the scene perfectly, with a captivating beat, and a masterful use of vocal layering. This jam leaves listeners with chills in the best way, it’s hard not to get addicted.
Golda is lost. Come along for the ride..
Melbourne based singer-songwriter Tanya Batt (professionally known as BATTS) is reaching for the stars with the upcoming release of her debut EP, 62 Moons.
Named after Saturn’s own 62 moons, 62 Moons combines BATTS’s musical prowess with her love of space, a theme that is prevalent throughout the EP.
“When NASA began to release the sounds of space it blew my mind,” says BATTS. “Saturn has always been my favorite for many reasons, but when I first heard the sound of Saturn’s rings it really connected. In that moment I had the thought of combining the music we create as humans, with the natural music of things out in space that have existed for billions and billions of years. I want to instill knowledge of space within music to people, but not via lyrics – via sounds.”
Her sound consists of a cosmic combination of shoe-gaze and folk pop that will definitely leave you wanting more. Her newest single off the EP, “Somedays,” is now available, and it is absolutely beautiful.
Leon Weber originally began his musical journey playing classical music, but it’s clear that his true calling was in the electronic genre.
Performing under the stage name LCAW, Weber has spent his years refining his sound, gaining the support of acts such as ODESZA, Martin Garrix, Robin Schulz, and Felix Jaehn. His debut single, “Painted Sky,” hit the scene back in 2016, and was ranked in the German airplay charts’ top 50.
His newest single, “Desires,” features a dreamy sound that evokes images of summer. The track also features the legendary Danish electronic trio WhoMadeWho on vocals.
“Working with WhoMadeWho was something I wanted to do for quite a while, their self-titled album on Gomma is one of my favorites,” said LCAW. “”Desires” came together very naturally, my instrumental production was already in a similar musical world – so when I showed them one of the early versions they quickly agreed to provide the vocals for the track. This is a collaboration not many were expecting but that just makes it so much more special.”
Gaston Light, the brainchild of Jason Corcoran, is an American rock band from Dallas, TX with some serious skill.
Their newest EP, Newport Drive, is a beautiful collection of soulful jams that both uplift and evoke a special state of introspection in the listeners. The EP’s title track is huge testament to the talent possessed by this band. With lyrics like poetry, a dramatic buildup, and crystal clear instrumentals, the slow, melancholy tune is sure to work its way into the hearts of listeners everywhere.
There’s a touch of darkness to this EP that makes it all the more enticing. Gaston Light is definitely a name to look out for in the future.
Cheri V is a British singer/songwriter who’s ready to take the world by storm.
With a voice that’s like a warm hug for the ears, and a soulful edge that could stir feelings in the most jaded of hearts, it wouldn’t be inaccurate to say that Cheri V is a force to be reckoned with.
The acclaimed songstress is gearing up for her debut album, Brown Eyed Soul, which is set to drop in 2018. Her expansive vocals and tongue-in-cheek lyrics are highlighted beautifully on her stripped down, piano-driven tracks such as “Without You.”
If this song is indicative of things to come, then Brown Eyed Soul is guaranteed to be a treat.
