Snapchat is moving from the tech world into the fashion world with their latest snapcode pin accessory. Snapchat and Coach collaborated to create a limited-edition set of Coach pins equipped with snapcodes.
Snapcodes are scanning codes that are used to add friends and unlock new features on Snapchat. This new collaboration marks the first time a company has designed a fashion product with technology embedded into it.
Each pin features an image that is relevant to the Coach brand, such as a dinosaur or shark, which is placed inside the outline of Snapchat’s ghost logo. These pins will be available at 20 Coach stores across America and online.
As posted on Adweek, Snapchat’s director of retail, Marni Schapiro said, “The pins are all about creativity and individuality. They’re fun, playful and allow our community a way to Snap the virtual onto reality.”
A few lucky customers will also get a chance to win a free snapcode pin by taking a quiz online or in-stores, which requires customers to respond to trivia on Coach’s logos and history. Coach is hoping that these new pins will increase their in-store traffic as customers try to take the trivia quiz and take a look at the new snapcode pin.
This isn’t Snapchat’s first time delving into the fashion world, as they released Spectacles in 2016. We wish them all the best with their latest endeavor and can’t wait to see the pins in person.
