Comedian Tiffany Haddish became the first black female comedian to host SNL last night, and she held nothing back!
Tiffany Haddish has had a whirlwind year with the success of her movie “Girls Trip” alongside Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Regina Hall which raked in a whopping 100 million dollars at the box office. Since the smash hit, she has been a rising star. Last night, she became the first black female comedian to host Saturday Night Live after the show being on the air since 1975.
Haddish who hosted the show shared the stage with musical guest Taylor Swift for a few jokes as well as a hilarious skit with Leslie Jones called “Get Woke with Tamika.” Earlier this week she made a few enthusiastic posts on her Instagram page promoting and preparing for her historic night.
Although Haddish just hit superstar status, she has been around a long time and paid her dues. She has done a plethora of stand up tours and has appeared in movies like 2016’s Keanu starring Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, The Carmichael Show, and even Kevin Hart‘s BET comedy series The Real Husbands of Hollywood.
Before entering the world of comedy, Haddish had many hardships she endured. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, she revealed that her mother suffered brain damage when Tiffany was a child forcing her to live in foster homes where she was molested.
After enduring such heartbreaking tragedies as a child, it is incredible to see how her drive and determination helped her to overcome those things and still keep us laughing.
Haddish has worked hard and deserved her headlining night on the oldest comedy on television, and did a phenomenal job hosting. We can’t wait to see her grace the stage again for another night of laughs. For another round of laughs watch the skit “Get Woke with Tamika” below via YouTube.
